As far as our club members know, there is no existing app or website alert system anywhere to alert users of on-the-air SuperFox (SFox) mode FT8 stations. The new SFox mode is, as we know, the fully-authenticated (and most often) very rare DXpedition stations; with the SFox Mode existing to help identify real expedition stations, as opposed to the similar looking but fake pirate stations which cause such havoc on the bands. Please see below.
HamAlert has a unique opportunity here to help DX’ers identify the real, vs. the fake, FT8 stations, for the benefit of all DX’ers and data operators, and all DX’pedition operators. See below.
Unique Data Mode: As defined by WSJT-x, FT8 SuperFox transmits a very apparent and very unique single constant-envelope waveform that is ~1512 Hz wide and which usually occupies most all of 750-Hz to 2262-Hz on the waterfall. It seems likely that these unique mode transmissions could be automatically detectable by HamAlert vis-a-vis PSKreporter.fi or MQTT feeds.
Yes? Ideas, anyone? 73 de Mark ..w2or.. 29 October 2026.
