Getting only one RBN spot at a time

…so I don’t need to ask questions Here?!

I just discovered this amazing resource, from a chance remark on the GQRP Club .io group.
I’ve set up a simple, wide search for my own callsign and a couple of friends. I put out a quick CW CQ and got a notification from HamAlert before even my RBN screen had caught up. Impressive. I’ve run this test twice, just now. On each occasion I got three spots from different spotters but only one spot made it to HamAlert. Is this as intended?

I’m sure this is explained in the manual but I can’t find it (it’s not you, it’s me: I’m getting old) so please could someone point me there.

Thanks and 73 - Martin, G4EFE

Hello Martin,

Yes – check out https://hamalert.org/limits. By default, there is a limit of 1 spot every 10 minutes for the same combination of callsign, frequency and mode, as most people don’t want such duplicate spots. You can change the limit in the last section on that page.

There is no manual as such. I prefer to make the software that I write mostly self-explanatory, instead of spending time writing manuals that quickly get outdated as the software changes/evolves. That said, some common questions are answered here: HamAlert

Thanks, Manuel. Much appreciated.
