Request:
It would be great if there were a feature in the smartphone app or on the website that allowed users to change their status (On-air / Off-air) with a single button.
Reason:
Hello. I’m a ham radio operator from Korea.
One day, it suddenly occurred to me, “It would be nice if there were a way to let other stations know whether I’m On-air or Off-air.”
There are only about 20,000 amateur radio operators in Korea. And it seems there are only a few hundred with whom actual communication is possible. Since they’re spread across HF, VHF, UHF, and digital communications, the chances of meeting them are even lower. Most of them, like me, either leave their radios on and wait for someone to call “CQ,” or contact someone nearby via cell phone and ask to make a radio contact.
It struck me as sad that, despite having such a powerful medium as radio waves, we have no choice but to wait for “chance encounters.” But then I discovered this wonderful service.
If possible, could you add a button that allows users to manually change their status?
It seems the rest of the system is already in place, so I imagine that if a user opens the smartphone app and switches their status to “On-air,” a notification would go out to the people who have tagged me.
I know that creating and maintaining free software involves a lot of work and is difficult. It also costs more than you might think. Still, thank you for creating such a wonderful service!
