New install of HamAlert does not send audible alerts

I just installed HamAlert on my Motorola G5 phone. It is set up and I am seeing spots. I did a simulated spot to one of my triggers from the website, the spot was received on my phone but I did not get the audible notification. I checked the phones volume settings and the HamAlert permissions and they are all up or selected. I have already even tried deleting and re-installing the app. Any help would be appreciated.

OK I just tried something. With the app open, I don’t get audible alerts. If I minimize the app and send the simulated spot, I hear the audible notification. Is this how it is supposed to work?

Yes; if the app is open when the spot comes in, no system notification is triggered, and thus no sound.
